5 Key Reasons for Moms to Discover Their Passion & Purpose
Why pursuing your passion & purpose matters more than you think.
Whatever you do, do with determination. You have one life to live; do your work with passion and give your best. Whether you want to be a chef, doctor, actor, or a mother, be passionate to get the best result. - Alia Bhatt Click To Tweet
Do you believe you have a purpose in life? Or that there are things in life that you are great at doing that can make you money?
Sometimes it may be difficult to focus on the big picture of focusing on your overall goal in life and action steps to get there, especially when you have to deal with the day-to-day of managing a house with kids. But, the end reward would be great. You wouldn’t have the should of, could of, would of in your mind.
You know …I should have pursued my passion and purpose.
I could have been successful if I only found the time to focus on myself.
Maybe I would have a different outcome if I followed my gut.
For example, several years ago, I work at a job that required me to be at work at 5:15 in the morning. I was inspecting chicken in a poultry plant and felt my master’s degree was going to waste. I felt trapped because that was the only good pay job in the area.
I would always dream about how I envisioned my life, but I didn’t know if my dream could become a reality.
When my husband asked if I wanted to me, I was reluctant because we had a house and 2 children.
But, I knew if. I wanted something different; then I had to do something different.
At my current job, it’s a little more in line with what I enjoy doing. I help navigate people through the process so they can open their own business.
I love helping people gain clarity and working through barriers along the way. It’s the thing that I could wake up doing every day.
Here are excellent and powerful reasons why you should not only find your passion and purpose but pursue it.
1. Waking up Doing Something You Love
Yeah, I know we all enjoy waking up to our kid’s beautiful faces, tempers, and mess. But, one day, they will be grown, out of the house, and successful (a moment for shedding tears).
At that moment, you will think about what did I do for myself.
Being able to wake up and do something for yourself is not only a dream but a requirement for sanity.
Imagine waking up in the morning feeling well-rested and ready to tackle your day. Your kids are in daycare, so you can focus on turning your passion into a business. You know in your gut and your spirit that this is your calling.
There may be struggles and downfalls, but neither stops you from getting to the end.
After hard work, believing in yourself, and dedication, it finally happens. You are now in business for yourself. And enjoy every day that you are working on your purpose.
Now going to work doesn’t feel like work. And it feels wrong to make money doing something you enjoy. But, that the beauty of it all, you are getting out a bed, going to work, and making great money doing something you enjoy.

2. You Live, Dream and Conquer for Your Children
You always want to be in a position to give your kids hope. And you don’t want your kids to see you dreading to go into the office because that becomes their perception of work.
Instead, how powerful would it be to have a career you love and your children participating in building your dream? For instance, having your children
- make donuts, cakes, and pies in your bakery
- file paperwork for your clients
- find inspiration for your clothing line
- sort picture you have taking
I know focusing on yourself and living in your dream may bring up parent guilt. You may want to wait until your child is older or, worst, graduate.
All in the hope that you present yourself as a good parent. But parenting is more than just being physically there; it’s about showing them everything is reachable, and dreaming is essential.
“The real questions for parents should be: “Are you engaged? Are you paying attention?” If so, plan to make lots of mistakes and bad decisions. Imperfect parenting moments turn into gifts as our children watch us try to figure out what went wrong and how we can do better next time. The mandate is not to be perfect and raise happy children. Perfection doesn’t exist, and I’ve found what makes children happy doesn’t always prepare them to be courageous, engaged adults.”
3. Fulfilling Your Soul
You don’t want to be those who have a job or career that pays well, but you feel incomplete and have dread in the pit of your stomach. Maybe the position doesn’t offer enough reward, or you feel like your wasting good talent on something that doesn’t challenge you enough. There is nothing great about going to work every day with a feeling of emptiness and contentment.
I have a friend of mine who makes over 100,000 a year but realized that the job she worked so hard to acquire didn’t fulfill her desires. For years she has been in the same position but slowly became unfulfilled. She explained how going to work was more of a drain, which left her completely lost.
You would think she would be happy making that much money. But that’s the thing; money can’t fill that void. No matter how financially successful you become, there is a whisper in your ear and unsettlement in your heart because you’re supposed to do something else.
After coaching her, she was able to express her goals, how she envisioned her life and what skills she currently possesses which can assist in finding her passion. We flushed out the steps she must take to move forward and the blessing she must acknowledge.
3. Making Money Easily
I say making money easily because when you hate your job, then you are actually working hard. You have to push yourself to show up every day. Also, you can wait until it’s time to get off work.
You know checking the clock to see what time it is and counting down the days of the week looking forward to your days off.
However, if you were working on something that you’re passionate about such as making baked goods in your bakery, then going to work would be easy.
Could you imagine how it would be if you can make full-time income doing the one thing you enjoy so much?
4. You become a Happier Mom
It’s weird but children have a way of sensing your mood. Whether happy, sad, or content they knnooowwww. Creepy.
It’s because of your body language, energy, and demeanor show it all.
So look for the things that bring happiness into your life so the little one can see and feel the love.
