What is your belief around affirmations?
So what’s your belief?
I am not here to convince you either way, but I would like to give my perspective of how affirmations work for me.
And how it could work for you, especially if you in a time in your life where things are starting to seem impossible.
Or your back is against the wall, so you are willing to try anything to change your current situation then proceed.
I understand because I been there and still have times in my life where I say, “ why are things not working in my favor?”
If you read my backstory of how I turn my negative life upside down, you understand why I believe in daily affirmation, and
I realized there are chapters in our life that seems doubtful. You were maybe having a good streak and then boom clouds and gloom.
Although I wasn’t introduced to affirmations until late in my life like the late 20s as when I was young, I understood the power of words and would not let words negativity control my destiny.
Just in case you are unfamiliar with affirmation and how it all comes together to change your life lets start here.

What are positive affirmations?

The word affirmation comes from the Latin affirmare, originally meaning “to make steady, strengthen.”
Affirmations are a way to practice positive thinking and self-empowerment; it falls in lines with the law of attraction and manifestations. If you have a positive mindset supported by affirmations, it will make achieving anything possible.
The definition of Self-affirmations is the ability to think positive thoughts so you can empower yourself.
Merriam- Webster Defines Self-affirmations as the act of affirming one’s own worthiness and value as an individual for beneficial effect (such as increasing one’s confidence or raising self-esteem)
So, if you are trying to find a job and feeling discourage, thinking you maybe you’re not good enough or don’t deserve it then try to change your mindset by using self affirmations such as
“For every action, I take moves me toward my perfect career.”
“I am powerful, confident in my abilities to work in my dream job that brings lots of money, satisfaction, andc fulfillment.” I created this statement based on my personal core values.
Do affirmations actually work?
Daily affirmations are proven to help with self-development because it allows us to have more control over our brain.
Evidence from a study published in PLOS ONE, states, “ self-affirmation — the process of identifying and focusing on one’s most important values — can protect against the damaging effects of stress on problem-solving performance.”
A team at Carnegie Mellon University led this research with David Creswell who found that “people can boost their ability to solve problems under pressure by using self-affirmation, [and] “results show that participants who were under high levels of chronic stress during the past month had impaired problem-solving performance” (source)
How Do affirmations work?
So if you think of your brain like a navigation system, you are trying to achieve something particular, i.e a certain destination, but your system is not sending you the correct information to achieve such desire. What you are doing is manually imputing data so it can keep you on course.
Affirmations are positive phrases that you repeat to yourself to overcome negative thoughts.
Basically, you are rewiring your brain to do what you want it to do.
I would say practice for 21 days because that’s how long it takes to make a new habit. And you’re trying to develop a new thought process.
Anything with practice can be improved. So think of affirmations daily, as a process that will be difficult at first, but with practice, it will be achievable.
