Do These 6 Things to get your life together when you feel overwhelmed

There are so many things that need to be done rather at home or in life.

There are those moments, days or sometimes weeks when I feel so behind.

You know like the clean clothes that need to be put away.

The refrigerator that you keep telling yourself you will clean.

And let’s not talk about the kid’s to-do list you need to tackle. Like doctor’s appointments, school schedules, clothes shopping 🛍 , and organizing their paperwork.

Let’s face it life is a whirlwind sometimes. I say sometimes because there are bigger moments of peace. If you’re like, nope, that not me, chaos is every day, and all the time, you need to simplify your life and remove any negativity around you.

But on those days when things are too much, you need a strategy to get centered and align yourself.

Here are a few things that I do to get me back on track and recenter myself because I know the familiar question we all want to know.

Where To Start When Your Overwhelmed & Need to Get YOUR LIFE Together

1. Gain Mental Clarity

mental clarity for overwhelmed mom

Finding mental clarity may seem like a no-brainer, but how many of you are just on all the time.

It’s no wonder why your frazzled and overwhelmed.

Your mind is overworked with all the thoughts, responsibilities, and decisions you need to make. By slowing down and gaining mental clarity, you can give yourself permission to take it one step at a time.

Way to get mental clarity

  • Go for a walk
  • Give the kids quiet time so you can think
  • Ground yourself ( this helps you feel present and balanced)

2. Clear Your Mind

Once you have slowed down and have the mental capacity to think, you have to clear your mind of all the things you processed during your mental break.

I know when I go for a walk or heck even taking a shower will jog all the things on mind.

So, the first thing I would do is a brain dump to get all my tasks, goals, and to-do list out of my poor little brain and on to some paper.

I know you might say, why not use your phone. Well, my friend, the phone can be a distraction and get in the way of you completing your brain dump. Besides, writing things down feels better to me.

But, if you insist on using your phone then put it on airplane mode.

Now, sit down and let everything ALL out your mind until its empty. Got it. Empty.

3. Organize Your Schedule

First what kind of calendar do you use digital or paper?

Just curious 👀

I use both. Let me tell you why.

The Plus to Writing Things Down

It’s something about writing things down that helps your brain remember things.

According to Lifesavvy.com writing things by hand,  then “all that complex sensory information increases the chances the knowledge will be stored for later.” Since writing stuff down “forces your brain to process information in a more detailed way, which helps you successfully load that information into your memory.”

The Pros to Using Digital Calendars

Ok so I absolutely can’t live without my digital calendar.

You may forget your handy journal at home but I’m pretty sure you don’t leave you phone.

Which means you will always have it readily available.

Besides, using a Google calendar is the perfect way to sync your schedule with someone else❤️. Because there is no such thing as TOO PRODUCTIVE, is it.

For example, if I will make a doctor’s appointment, then I will invite my husband so he can also add it to his calendar. Or if my teen has a project due then, I will add it to my calendar then send him a invites to you can add it to his.

This keeps everyone on the same page and just in case you forget someone else remembers.

Add your event> date> time> whether repeat or not> add guest email>add location>notes if needed > color code it ( optional)> SAVE. Boom you invited someone to your event.

A few things to schedule to help get your life together 📅

  • Pull things off your brain dump that has due dates or are a priority and give it a date and time
  • Goals that you created needs a date, or it will never get done
  • Bills that need to get paid
  • Days the schools are closed- yes, let’s be prepared. This help plan things to do or places to go
  • Date night read love language ideas
  • Down time
Schedule it! Plan as much as you can by scheduling the obvious, like kid's appointments and meetings. Then invite your partner to events with Google Calendar, including free time so you can keep yourself organized and reduce… Click To Tweet

4. Find out what led to the overwhelm

Now that you have most of the things out your brain and scheduled out. Then, its time to understand what happened in the first place and learn how to move on from there.

Question to ask yourself when you’re overwhelmed

  • Did I overbook myself and make to many commitments? If so, what can I take off my schedule? How can I say No more often?
  • What is the real reason I am not getting things done? Can I eliminate the things that make things complicated?
  • What can I automate in my life to make things run smoothly?
  • What can I delegate?
  • Is there any self-sabotage at play?
  • What is the first thing I can do to help me get closer to my ideal life?

Reflecting on things in your life is a great way to identify what contributed to your overwhelm in the first place.

You may begin to notice a pattern of events that leads up to you feeling behind and get in front of it.

5. Release IT!

Do you ever feel so overwhelmed you don't know how to get back on track?Like #momlife makes you lose control and feel like your drowning in task? We can’t burden everything, and when I hit the point that I feel like everything is spinning out of control, I learned how to release the stress.

This, by far, is a critical step because holding on to stress can affect your mind, body, and goals. The last thing you need is to be irritated, which bleeds into your personal life and work life.

But stress also lowers your vibration which gets in the way of manifesting your goals.

I know it’s easier said than done but just know it NEEDS to GET DONE!

Simple Actions to Take When Need To Release Stress

  • Call up a friend y’all to your spouse
  • Grab yourself a glass of wine
  • Music is a fantastic way to sing  or  dance it out
  • Journal it out
  • Try CBD oil; girl, I would not be able to survive with it. My fav is here.
  • What a show that you have seen before- Girlfriends is on Netflix!
  • Smell goods are sooo relaxing. Click for must-try candle and essential oil.

Basically, find what works for you even if you have to test it out

And get it off your chest and out your mind.

My bestie and I talk about our kid issues all the time. I mean, don’t get me wrong we love them to death, but sometimes you need to talk to some who can relate

Because you’re not alone.

Use this when trying to do something outside of your comfort zone, getting overwhelmed with tackling goals, and balancing your family.

6 . What Do YOU Want and NEED?

creating your relaxing routine

You don’t know how many times I talk to a client about how frustrating life it’s. Trust me I get it.

But when I ask the questions.

What would make things easier?

What do you want your day or life to look like? They are stumped.

It’s because our mind is so wired with problems that we haven’t trained our mind to find solutions and desires.

So if you had the perfect day, what would your day look like? Then adapt those ideas into your life.

For example, if I say I would love to wake up with an easy morning drinking coffee and working out. Then the task is to find out what you NEED to do to make that happen. Maybe wake up 10 mins earlier than the kids.

Or simply setting an alarm for 5 mins and GET THINGS DONE.

Remember, you have options, so it doesn’t have to stay this way. You can create your life how you want it to look.
